The world of social media has done so much good for so many reasons but it has also done a lot that has skewed the reality of our world.
In terms of makeup, it has allowed us to really connect with those in and connected to the beauty industry. This has enabled and empowered so many to be inspired to create their own world of beauty. But in amongst it, it has started to set a very unrealistic standard. These men and women, under their social media protection, look perfect, airbrushed and happy.
But this is only one version of themselves that they have decided to share with the world. Do we see them sans makeup, filters and lighting sitting on the couch eating a block of chocolate, major fomo’ing over others escapades, so thoroughly detailed on their own social media pages? Not really.
So its level of false reality which affects as all, in some way. And its through this campaign that HHM wants to project a more realistic approach to beauty. One that doesn’t lie, doesn’t change and doesn’t falsify its results.
For Ivana, its obvious. The girl is a babe. Bone structure and a mysterious sexiness are only some of what this girl brings to the table. To be honest, we quickly by-passed these facts and connected instantly to the fact that she’s just a rad chick. Great sense of humour, happy to have a laugh and giggle. Again, only another layer.
But by removing the layers of someone, to see the true essence of anyone, we must understand that its not the first layer- the one we all see that defines who we are. It’s not even the next. It’s the core of who we are, down to the soul reason we are here and why we choose to be the people we are that defines that.
So when this video came about with Ivana, it isn’t her natural beauty or that goddamn sexy Becca Glow that radiates, its her. To her core. And she is beautiful.
Name: Ivana Vukcevic
What makes you feel beautiful? (doesn’t have to be makeup!)
Dancing, I feel beautiful when I am free and my mind is at ease. This happens when I am doing what I love, dancing is number one!
How do you back your own beauty? Eg. Exercise, water, meditation, works on self confidence…
I exercise as much as possible and focus on my diet so I can take care of myself from inside out.
What’s one product in your makeup bag you cant live without?
I cannot live without bronzer, I can easily go without foundation or any eye makeup, but something on my cheeks is a must. I prefer bronzer over blush.
Why do use makeup?
I use make up to enhance the features I already have not to hide behind it.
If you have one piece advice to other women on how they can back their beauty what would it be?
Comparison is the enemy. Be the best version of yourself without trying to conform to societies standards of beauty. Individuality is beauty.
