KAREN STRACHAN, LUMINOSITY SKIN & LASER CLINIC

August 6, 2017

For those who may have missed it, we recently announced an exciting collaboration with the incredible Karen Strachan from Luminosity Skin & Laser Clinic in Geelong. Karen is not only the most talented skin care specialist we know but she also shares our brand ethos and supports our beautiful clients with personalised skin care treatments and expertise.

Karen is, hand on heart, the best in the business and we are so excited that she was able to share some of her winter skin care secrets with us…

Fluctuation in temperatures can wreak havoc on the skin barrier, stripping natural oils and water from your skin. Temperature fluctuations from going between a heated home or office to braving the outside world can also disturb your skins PH levels. The result? Dry, flaky winter-induced skin. We get it – maintaining glowing skin as the temperature drops is no easy task, which is exactly why we’ve rounded up 3 tips to SOS (save our skin) this winter… Get ready these are our must have tips for healthy winter skin …

1. Moisture Moisture Moisture
Give your skin a little more love and introduce a daily hydrating serum to your skincare routine this winter. Apply just before bed to protect your skin whilst you sleep and allow it to work gathering moisture throughout the evening.  We are obsessed with Hyaluronic Acid 100% (that locks in moisture that lasts up to 24 hours!)

2. Become Friends With Oil
Lock in moisture (and lock OUT flaky skin) by introducing a little oil to your winter beauty routine. Try swapping your gel for a cream cleanser. If your complexion gets a little drier in winter as the temperature drops, try adding a facial oil to your skincare regime before you pop on your moisturiser for added glow. CoQ10 is our secret winter must have (ensure you check with your skin technician as oil isn't for everyone).

3. Don’t Be Afraid To Exfoliate
If you find that your skin is dry, tight and starting to flake—it may mean you have a build-up of dry skin cells. Instead of over-moisturising (which can actually do more harm than good) use an active exfoliant to buff away the old skin cells and reveal shiny new ones. We recommend a series of Microdermabrasions every fortnight and try an enzyme based exfoliant to reveal wonderfully smooth and bright skin.

Our last but NOT least tip is to ensure you have internal hydration … drinking lots of water and supplementing with good quality bio fermented elixirs made specifically for good skin health will play a very supportive role in hydrated winter skin. Our antioxidant Inner Beauty Boost is the perfect solution to hydrate and ward off any winter bugs this time of year … and a plus is that it tastes divine!
